Louie Menta, a Quakertown student in the Electrical Program at Upper Bucks County Technical School, has been named the May Student of the Month. As the youngest in his family, Louie follows in the footsteps of his older sister, Maria, who graduated from our Dental Program in 2024.

Louie decided to attend UBCTS as a ninth grader after hearing that the Electrical Program was second to none. What he enjoys most about the school is the balance between classroom instruction and hands-on learning. He appreciates the constant connection between book knowledge and practical application, believing that success in the trades requires both understanding the concepts and knowing how to use your hands to bring those concepts to life.

During his time at UBCTS, Louie has had several memorable experiences, two of which stand out the most. The first was participating in SkillsUSA as the district competitor for Electrical Wiring. Louie earned second place at districts, and when the first-place competitor was unable to attend the state competition, he stepped up with less than 48 hours’ notice. Rearranging his schedule and preparing quickly, Louie traveled to Hershey for the state competition and delivered an outstanding performance, placing third.

The second experience Louie values most is beginning co-op. He believes working on the job provides lessons that cannot be learned in a classroom alone. Through co-op, he has developed strong listening skills, learned the importance of teamwork, and improved his time management. Louie currently works for the family business, Lou Menta Electrical Contractors, where he continues to gain valuable field experience.

After graduation, Louie plans to continue working alongside his father and absorb every bit of knowledge he can from him. Outside of work and school, Louie enjoys riding dirt bikes, going to the gym, and working on his 1999 Ford Ranger with his friends. His strong work ethic, dedication to his trade, and willingness to take on challenges make him highly deserving of recognition as UBCTS’s May Student of the Month.
